What Replacement options are available? Replacement Windows (inserts, or dropins) Replacement windows are designed to fit into the opening currently occupied by the fixed and movable window sashes in your home. They allow the existing window trim both interior and exterior to be left in place. Replacement windows are custom measured and ordered to allow for a perfect fit, and a timely installation. This saves the customer significant labor costs. New Construction Windows Although your home may not be new, you can still install new construction windows. The difference in using new construction windows is that installing them requires a partial dismantling of the home’s exterior and interior window trim. However, the result is a completely customized fit, which includes secure attachment to the home’s frame. New flashing and exterior materials are required. as well. New consttruction window can be more costly than replacements because none of the existing windows parts are reused or incorperated. Thus, there is a difference in the extent of installation that is required. New construction windows require a vast amount of work, but are ultimately more secure and probably more energy efficient.
